LED Light Bulbs - 100 Watt Equal

100-Watt Equal LED Light Bulbs

If you are still using 100-Watt incandescent bulbs, it's time to upgrade to 100-Watt LED bulbs. These bulbs last longer and use up to 80% less energy, reducing energy and replacement costs. 100W LED light bulbs have an assortment of color temperatures that can affect the look and feel of your spaces. For example, a 2700K light most closely matches the color of the incandescent bulbs you're used to while a 5000K light more closely simulates daylight and can be too cold or harsh in some areas such as living rooms. For a better idea of how different color temperature bulbs can make a room appear, check out our interactive Lighting Guide.

In January 2018, California banned incandescent bulbs and now requires all lighting meet JA8 regulations. These regulations require all permanently installed screw-based fixtures, like pendants and wall sconces, use bulbs that have been JA8 certified. These bulbs are designed to meet stricter energy requirements, providing you additional energy savings. JA8 bulbs may also qualify for local or state rebates. Other states tend to follow California's regulations, so your state may require these bulbs soon.

How to Love Your 100W LED Light Bulbs

100W LED light bulbs for home can be used for general lighting throughout your house. For wall sconces, floor, and table lamps omni-directional bulbs emit light better towards the base of the bulb than LED bulbs with a narrower beam angle. Standard LED A19 bulbs are good for overhead lighting, pendant lights, and other installations where you don't need as much light shining backwards towards the base. Bulbs with a color rendering index (CRI) of 90 and higher are available to use where you need colors to look natural. If you are planning to use your bulb in a globe or porch light, make sure the bulb is enclosed fixture rated. Using a non-enclosed fixture rated bulb in an enclosed fixture can shorten the bulb's lifespan due to heat buildup. For moisture rich areas like bathrooms, look for 100W LED light bulbs that are damp location rated.

Don't be surprised if your new 100-Watt LED bulbs seem a bit blinding at first. LEDs are generally brighter due to producing more visible light compared to incandescents. If the light is too bright, you can easily cut some of the brightness with a lamp shade. You can also use dimmable 100-Watt LED bulbs that can be paired with compatible dimmers to adjust the light output as needed or change out your 100-Watt equal bulbs with a lower wattage bulb.
